"The file size is too large." is displayed and I cannot update the record
Answer¶
Take one of the following actions.
- Reduce the size of the image file to paste
- Review ImageUploadFileSizeLimit and ImageDecodedSizeLimit in BinaryStorage.json
Overview¶
When you paste an image into the Body column, a Description column, or a comment, the error "The file size is too large." occurs if the file size of the image exceeds the configured value.
The file size limits are specified for the client side and the server side respectively in BinaryStorage.json.
| Parameter Name | Description |
|---|---|
| ImageUploadFileSizeLimit | Upper limit checked on the client side. The upper limit of the size of the image file to paste (unit: MB) |
| ImageDecodedSizeLimit | Upper limit checked on the server side. The upper limit of the size of the decoded image file (unit: MB) |
Because the file size becomes larger when an image file is decoded, set ImageDecodedSizeLimit to a value larger than ImageUploadFileSizeLimit.
The file size after decoding differs depending on the file type. Use the following calculations as a reference.

Still images
The memory size after decoding depends on the resolution and the number of color channels. (resolution × number of color channels)
Image Format Resolution Color Channels Memory After Decoding JPEG 3000×4000 3 (RGB) Approx. 36 MB PNG 3000×4000 4 (RGBA) Approx. 48 MB Still GIF 1920×1080 1 to 4 Approx. 8 MB -
Animated GIFs
After decoding, the size is further multiplied by the number of frames.
Image Format Resolution Color Channels Frames Memory After Decoding Animated GIF 1920×1080 1 to 4 100 frames Approx. 800 MB
