Summary synchronization does not finish and an error occurs

Answer

Adjust the parameters of SummarySync.json to divide the summary synchronization process into smaller chunks.

Overview

When you run summary synchronization on a table that contains a large number of records, the process may take a long time, exceed the HTTP timeout of the web server, and end in an error. You can keep the process running by making the chunks smaller with a smaller value for the SynchronizeSummariesDelayChunkSize parameter of SummarySync.json, or by adding a wait time between chunks with a larger value for the SynchronizeSummariesDelayMilliseconds parameter of SummarySync.json.

For detailed setting procedures and recommended values, see "Reduce the Server Load of Summary Synchronization".

Cautions

  1. The larger the wait time (SynchronizeSummariesDelayMilliseconds), the longer it takes to complete the whole synchronization process. Because this increases the risk of an HTTP timeout, check that the setting is consistent with the timeout settings of the reverse proxy and load balancer.
  2. To apply changes to the parameter file, you need to restart the application.

Limitations

  1. The HTTP timeout of the web server depends on the server settings. If adjusting the parameters does not solve the problem, check the processing time limit settings of the server.

Operation Procedure

If the error persists, check the following in this order.

  1. Open SummarySync.json.
  2. Decrease the value of SynchronizeSummariesDelayChunkSize.
  3. Increase the value of SynchronizeSummariesDelayMilliseconds.
  4. Restart the application.
