Overview¶

This page explains how to use this manual with the keyboard only, organized by what you want to do.

The basic operation is: press Tab to move to the next link, button, or other element (Shift+Tab to go back), and press Enter to open or press it. A frame is shown around the element that is currently selected.

Reading a Page¶

What you want to do	Operation
Jump to the beginning of the content	Press `Tab` first after opening a page to show "Skip to content". Press `Enter` to skip the menus at the top of the screen and move to the beginning of the content.
Scroll a little	Press `Down` or `Up`.
Scroll one screen at a time	Press `Space` (`Shift`+`Space` to go back), or `Page Down` and `Page Up`.
Go to the top or the end of the page	Press `Home` or `End`.

Finding Pages¶

What you want to do	Operation
Move to the search box	Press `Tab` a few times after opening a page. The search box comes after the site logo, the color mode, and the language selector.
Search	Type the words you want to find in the search box. The search results appear as you type.
Select a search result	Press `Down` or `Up` to move one result at a time. When you reach the end, you return to the search box.
Open a page	Select a search result and press `Enter`. Press `Enter` in the search box to open the page that matches best.
Close the search	Press `Esc`.

Going to Other Pages¶

What you want to do	Operation
Open a link	Select a link with `Tab` and press `Enter`. You can select the top menu, the left menu, and the table of contents in the same way.
Expand a level in the left menu	Move to the arrow at the right of the item name with `Tab` and press `Enter`.
Go to the previous or next page	Move to the "Previous" or "Next" link at the bottom of the page with `Tab` and press `Enter`.

Using Elements on a Page¶

What you want to do	Operation
Switch tabs	Move to a tab label with `Tab` and press `Left` or `Right`.
Scroll a wide table or a row of tab labels	Move to the table or the row of labels with `Tab` and press `Left` or `Right`.
Expand or collapse a box	Move to the title of the box with `Tab` and press `Enter` or `Space`.
Copy code	Move to the icon at the upper right of the code box with `Tab` and press `Enter`.
Show a code annotation	Move to the round icon in the code with `Tab` and press `Enter`.

Changing the Display¶

What you want to do	Operation
Switch the color mode	Move to the color mode icon with `Tab` and press `Enter`. Each press switches the mode in the order of automatic, light, and dark.
Switch the language	Move to the "Select language" icon with `Tab` and press `Enter`. Move to "日本語" or "English" with `Tab` and press `Enter`.

Cautions¶

This manual does not use shortcuts that work with a single character key (for example, / to move to the search box). This prevents unintended actions caused by voice input or typing mistakes.
